Japanese illustrator CHICHI creates a wide variety of Japanese art, drawing from natural, sensual and traditional motifs.

Hailing from the pristine valleys of Mie Prefecture, he originally painted all his work by hand. After experiencing New York life for 8 years, he returned to Japan. He set up his own design office, and began creating illustrations that infuse the best of Western and Eastern cultures. Without the aid of a computer he spends countless hours drawing dot by dot and line by line on a miniscule scale. This dedication to detail has given his art a unique feel and his particular style of drawing helps create a world in which he, as an artist, has his own personal flavor.

After exhibiting in New York, Hungary and Japan his art has truly attained global status and his design services have become sought after by offices across Japan. He runs his own apparel brand, “Visible Elephant 47.” In 2009, a book celebrating his designs was released in South Korea.
